This is a very good article, and you picked good quotes. I continue to be utterly flabbergasted by this convert’s courage (son of Archbishop of Canterbury) and dystopian vision that has proved so true. His other novel, Come Rack, Come Rope was devastating also about the English horror at Catholic persecution and dissolution of the monasteries. So this author deserves more reads. His life was a quiet revelation.
I chanced upon this and devoured it in 2007. Bradley I know this is a primer...but, I think the long E word ending in 'a' was important enough to mention.

Think about setting up a free account with Internet Archive. There are a good dozen options to read or listen to Msgr. Benson's classic there.

I've had this on my "to read" list for quite a while - this is a good nudge to jump in sometime soon!!
Oh please, do not delay! It is a book for our time written in 1907. Very serious.
